About me
Joel Simon is the founding director of the Journalism Protection Initiative at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, part of the City University of New York. Previously he served as the executive director of the Committee to Protect Journalists. He writes on press press freedom issues for Columbia Journalism Review, The New Yorker and other publications and is the author of four books.
